WALKING FOR HEALTH
We are part of the awesome Walking for Health service. We organise weekly walking groups from the church. Our Walking for Health programme was started at the beginning of 2018 by operations manager and former churchwarden Heather Batho, a keen walker who has completed two sections of the Camino de Santiago (minus celebrities and BBC camera crew).
OK, I’VE GOT QUESTIONS
I’VE HEARD OF WALKING FOR HEALTH IN THE PRESS, IS IT THE SAME SCHEME?
Walking for Health is a national scheme sponsored by The Ramblers, and supported through funding from the Postcode Lottery and Macmillan. Our local walks are coordinated by St Austell Healthcare in collaboration with the Eden Project.
WHAT WOULD I BE EXPECTED TO DO - I’M NOT VERY FIT?
We walk for up to 90 minutes, but there is always the option to do a shorter version. The walks end back at the church where we have a welcome sit down and a chance to chat over some free refreshments.
WHEN AND WHERE DO THE WALKS TAKE PLACE?
Our walks take place every Tuesday, and always start at Holy Trinity Church. We always leave at 2 pm, so please come about 15 minutes before then..
DO I NEED TO BRING ANYTHING?
There is no charge for the walk and all you need is a pair of comfortable walking shoes and a waterproof coat if it is wet, as we walk whatever the weather.
CAN I BRING MY DOG?
Everybody is welcome, but we regret that we can’t take dogs, except registered guide dogs.
