We are here for you
WEDDINGS IN ST AUSTELL
Looking through some of the media coverage, you could be forgiven for thinking that Church weddings are not so popular these days. In St Austell Parish, we are actually seeing the opposite. Our beautiful church buildings are hosting rising numbers of weddings!
Church Weddings
In the UK there are many licensed premises but we believe that church weddings offer far more than the civil alternatives:
Church weddings recognise the presence of God. During civil services the person conducting the service cannot make religious references by law. The sense that these important vows are shared by all coupled with an understanding that this higher power is present can be incredibly precious.
Church weddings take place in a building that is part of the community. People who worship at the church are often on hand to welcome in the couple and their family and friends. Church documents can date back many centuries and it is very special to know that your new life is now recorded in a way that can be shared with others in the community not just now, but for centuries to come.
Of course, newly married couples are also very welcome to return to the church in the future as often as they wish, to kneel at the altar, to retrace their steps and to share their memories with others
THE THREE CHURCHES IN THE ST AUSTELL FAMILY
Weddings at
HOLY TRINITY, ST AUSTELL
The largest of our churches, with a prominent place in the centre of St Austell. The church is a beautiful example of many periods of history coming together.
Happy memories…
A coupled who moved into the Bodmin area following their wedding have some very happy memories.
“We were delighted to get married at Holy Trinity church, the building itself is beautiful and everyone went the extra mile to ensure we had a special day.”
Liam and Prisca
The building can seat around 200 people. There are great opportunities for photographs before, during and after the service. The glass doors and piazza planned for the autumn of 2018 will bring added dimensions to make sure everyone enjoys the big day both inside and outside the church building.
Weddings at
ST LEVANS, PORTHPEAN
The church was built in 1884-5 and, with its warm rustic stone walls, has a lovely atmosphere and excellent opportunities for stunning photography.
St Levans is a very special place…
“We were welcomed in with open arms and made to feel part of the community by all of the congregation. Our marriage lessons with Howard and support from everyone, both in person and in prayer helped hugely to prepare us for our wedding day and future together. It was the best day of our lives, and we have the fondest memories of the Church and all it’s parishioners. We think of them often and will be back to visit again soon”.
Ben and Alex
The building can seat around 70 people. It is in a village setting with access to Porthpean Beach via a road that runs by the church. The church is used regularly for services and there is comfortable seating in this very special place.
Weddings at
ALL SAINTS, PENTEWAN
Situated in the heart of Pentewan, the church was built in 1821 during a time of great development in the village. The village is very much on the tourist trail and owes much of its present wealth to tourism. It is situated on a terrace above the village and relatively close to the sea.
Perfect Day…
A happy couple, with a wonderful day thanks to All Saints.
“Pentewan is very close to our heart so it was very easy to decide that we would get married at All Saints Church, if it was possible as we live nearly 300 miles away! Our day was perfect, a massive thank you to the wonderful people connected to the church, they made our marriage very special.”
The seating arrangements are flexible and it is possible to organise the space for the wishes of the happy couple.
